Can you tell me more about your approach to advocacy? What is your background and education experience?
My approach to advocacy leverages strategic planning, document management and organization, and relationship building to facilitate the best educational support outcomes. The services I offer are tailored in ways that allow me to better understand your child so that we can successfully support and advocate for them. I also consistently participate in professional development opportunities because it is important to me to have a working knowledge of various learning profiles and challenges.
I am a member of the Autism Society Central Virginia (ASCV) and The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA).
Education Background, Teaching Experience, Professional Certifications
An Education and Government double major at the College of William & Mary, I obtained my teaching license and taught in inclusive classrooms in a middle school setting. This experience gave me critical exposure to IEP and 504 implementation, differentiated instruction, and also provided opportunities in partnering directly with parents, school administrators, teachers, and support coordinators.
Risk Management, Compliance, and Strategic Planning
I began my career in training and banking management in my hometown of Charlottesville, VA, later leading operations and enterprise risk management departments across several regional banks and credit unions in the Central Virginia area. In these roles I served as a liaison to auditors and developed a process of using knowledge of regulatory frameworks to optimize plan vision and implementation, and track action plans that identified and remedied gaps in operational controls.
This culminated in an opportunity to define and build out an enterprise risk management function from scratch at a credit union with over 75,000 members. Through this work, I developed a strong ability to bring together cross-functional teams to create and sustain robust risk management plans and programs, essentially acting as an in-house consultant facilitating evidence-based decisions that found the optimal risk/reward balance and ensured compliance with relevant regulations.
Development and Implementation of Collaborative Vision
Cultivating positive relationships with school personnel and service providers is a critical part of ensuring positive outcomes. In addition to working with families of students with exceptional education needs get started in understanding, planning, and navigating the journey of supporting their children in their academic and social development, I have also collaborated with and built a network of trusted local providers and advisors, including in the fields of speech therapy, occupational therapy, developmental evaluations, and testing.
Most recently, I helped found and served as President of the Parents Association at my child’s Montessori school in Richmond, VA. I remain an active volunteer supporting the parents, students, and teachers by leading, planning, and executing several community-driven events throughout the year.
Relationship Management and Teamwork
As a parent, I also have firsthand experience designing differentiated instructional strategies in a Montessori setting, as well as assembling and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement a comprehensive and ongoing support plan to optimize learning and development.
I also have experience providing ongoing direct instruction utilizing evidence-based strategies and differentiated teaching methodologies in Montessori and traditional education settings.

How do you think my situation should be handled? What is the estimated time frame for completing the work?
Before we begin any work together, we’ll complete a free introductory call or in-person meeting (up to 1 hour). We’ll talk about your child and address questions and concerns. This session provides both of us with an opportunity to discuss goals, needs, and ensure that it is the right fit. If it is, then I’ll create a work plan and schedule in line with my service options and we’ll get started!

What do you charge and how will I be billed? How are fees determined? Will you be billed on a hourly or flat basis? What is the total estimated fee?
Outside of the free introductory session, I charge an hourly rate of $60/hour. This is applied to all service offerings. When I create your work plan it will include a respective billing estimate. You will receive a bill after each session.
I offer a sliding scale and am happy to discuss further when we talk about your case.
